WHAT ARE LINE AND WRINKLE INJECTIONS?

Botulinum toxin is a naturally occurring protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. There are currently two different types of botulinum toxin commercially available in the United Kingdom: Type A toxin: Botox (Vistabel), Dysport (Azzalure) and Xeomin (Bocouture) and Type B toxin: Neurobloc.

Botulinum toxin can be used to treat all wrinkles which are the result of normal facial movement. When it is injected into a specific muscle in the face it blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscle. This means that the nerve ending cannot tell the muscle to move, hence there will be less wrinkling of the skin in the areas treated. The upper third of the face is where the best treatment results are obtained, commonly for the reduction in crow’s feet around the eyes and wrinkles on the forehead and between the eyebrows. Depending on the area treated, dose used, and how you respond, repeat treatments will be required around every 3 – 6 months.

Botulinum toxin injections have been used as a cosmetic treatment to prevent the ageing process since the 1980’s but originally, were only for high-end clientele, such as celebrities, and the rich and famous before becoming publicised and advertised in the media, therefore becoming a common household name.

Sadly we cannot stop the ageing process completely, however we can prevent and ease it by slowing it done. A lot of the time injectable treatments are looked down upon as they are seen to be changing the way you look – however, at Aesthetics of Essex, Rayleigh, we believe that we are just holding onto your youth, and preventing the ageing process from changing the way you look.

“Botox” injections provide very little risk, however you may experience slight asymmetries, Botox temporarily relaxes and paralyses the muscles that crease when we move our face creating wrinkles, so depending on how strong your natural muscles are, depends on how many units of Botox are needed in each area of the face, and how quickly your muscles are able to break it down, so we book follow-up appointments to ensure that you’re happy with your results and aren’t asymmetrical or in need of any corrections, although this is completely normal.

This treatment reduces wrinkles and expression lines between the eyebrows, around the eyes and across the forehead, creating smoother skin and a younger appearance. Our proven technique, with our experienced, prestigiously trained nurses, deliver stunning results!

The procedure involves injecting into the muscle and temporarily relaxes the facial muscles for approx 3 – 6 months. It prevents the formation of wrinkles and causes existing lines to soften, forming a smoother, youthful appearance.

The treatment is non-invasive with virtually no recovery time necessary; you can resume your normal activities immediately after treatment. All consultations are carried out by our trained and experienced therapists.
